No Hugs For You

Throngs of angry Australians aren’t feeling very chummy after a 12-year-old girl there was punished for hugging her friend.

kids huggingOfficials say the heinous hugging incident happened at Adam Road Primary, an elementary school in Bunbury. The school’s principal says when Amber Rome embraced her pal, she violated the school’s “no hugging policy.” The show of affection got the girl a day’s detention.

School administrators responded to public outrage by saying Rome first received a ‘verbal warning.’ The principal says the ‘no hugging’ rule was first imposed after parents complained about children sustaining “hug-related injuries.”
