It’s like a scene right out of A Christmas Carol. Well, almost.
Last December, a thief stole Chris and Susie Linford’s debit card number and racked up $5,000 in charges. They immediately reported the theft, cancelled the card, and were credited the funds by their bank. Then came the “gifts” at their doorstep.
First it was a car stereo and radar detector. Then a signed baseball bat. Soon the Alaska couple were the ‘proud’ owners of a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. photo, a membership to the fruit-of-the-month club, various jackets and coats, and other items.
Police say the crooks likely forgot to change the shipping address while doing their illicit online shopping.
