News: A recent report says most Americans will take two fewer vacation days in 2013 than they did last year. Respondents cited too much work, fear of job loss, and lack of funds as their primary reasons.
Comment: I am fortunate that Gaslamp Publishing takes the “radical” (in today’s society) notion that an employee who is able to take a break/rest every so often is a happy and productive employee, less likely to become so stressed out that they shoot the place up.
While we don’t lose any accrued time off, workers can eventually reach a “cap,” at which point HR and their supervisor “strongly encourage” them to take a break (i.e. kick them out for two weeks!).
Employers who don’t grant vacation benefits (or who make employees feel awkward or nervous about taking time off) should be fired, or at the very least lose their own vacation time.
