News: A crew member of the police reality TV show COPS has died, after he was accidentally shot by a Nebraska officer, while police responded to an armed robbery. Officials say the crew member was wearing a bullet proof vest, but the bullet found a “gap.”
Comment: This is a sad case, to be sure, and my heart goes out to the victim’s family. At the same time, this should be a lesson that police business is not entertainment.
Let’s stop the “excessive force” horseshit right here. This was a case where police were responding to an armed robbery after the perp had fired shots in their direction.
At that point, the officers’ attention rightly turns to getting the situation under control. They shouldn’t have to worry about some filmmaker getting in the way.
