A Mississippi man believed to be dead made a last-minute decision that may have saved his life.
Police say 78-year-old Walter Williams was inside a body bag at the county coroner’s office —moments away from the embalming process — when he kicked to get the attention of staff.
Williams was found unresponsive at his home earlier in the day. When medical workers were not able to get a pulse reading, he was assumed dead and taken to the coroner.
Police believe the man’s heart defibrillator may have malfunctioned, giving the appearance he was no longer breathing.
