The turkeys of Wallsburg, Utah will not be memorialized.
Officials with PeTA had requested a roadside memorial be placed at the site where a truck hauling more than 700 live turkeys crashed through a guardrail and plunged into a reservoir. The driver survived the crash.
UDOT reps said memorials are reserved for human crash victims, and the process is usually spearheaded by their next of kin. They said an exception would not be made in this case.
