Donald Trump is now officially the 45th President of the United States. He’s also the most social media-connected one.
Recently, there’s been an uproar about Trump’s decision to keep his personal Twitter account, along with the official “@POTUS” handle. I think the move is a brilliant one.
From a social media marketing standpoint, it just doesn’t make any sense to shut down a popular account. At the same time, many of his most fervent supporters will not ‘switch over’ and support any official government account. And by having two accounts, he has twice the exposure.
Change It Up
Yes, there will be a massive dropoff, but that’s happened for years now. Some, like myself, make a point to ‘follow’ whomever the sitting President is. Others will hit the ‘unfollow’ button and then follow now former President Obama on his new “@POTUS44” account.
In the end, to quote my late uncle, it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. Honestly, people really need to get a life and stop worrying about such trivial things.
