Cork Wine Bar in Washington, D.C. is suing President Trump. The owners say his Trump International Hotel is too close to their location, and is costing them business. They argue that people are patronizing Trump’s hotel in an effort to get close to the President.
Business, Not Personal
The owners of this place are mad because of what they call “unfair competition.” The rest of the world calls it Capitalism. That’s how it works. If you don’t like it, find another place, or just go out of business.
The lawsuit alone creates a dangerous precedent. You can’t punish people for being successful, and you can’t blame people for wanting to go to a popular new place instead of some rundown hole in the wall. These owners are acting like little kids. I hope the judge laughs them out of the courtroom!
