Do the Right Thing

Charlie Gard is going to Heaven. The 10-month-old who made national headlines will finally be free.

Born with a rare genetic condition and brain damage that made movement, eating, even breathing impossible, the baby was attached to machines that have kept him alive since he was born.

Despite doctor assertions that nothing else could be done, his parents fought to keep him alive. Earlier this week, the European Court of Human Rights opted not to hear their case — keeping in place previous court rulings to let Charlie die.

Die With Dignity

I feel bad for the parents, I do. But this is really the only compassionate outcome. What kind of life does someone have if they can’t even breathe or eat on their own?! Sorry to say, but the parents need to ditch their selfishness and think of what’s best for Charlie.
